Rev. Marty Singleterry
Martha A. Singleterry (aka Marty), a seventh generation Methodist, was ordained as an Elder in Full Connection in the United Methodist Church in 1988. Marty has served as a Campus Minister at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, as a Pastor of local churchws and retired on a Saturday in June 2006 as the United Methodist district Superintendant of the Clovis District. The next day she began her new position as the part-time Associate Pastor of First United Methodist Church in Carlsbad where she served for three years.

Rev. Marty considers her primary gifts to be preaching, teaching, pastoral care and administration (that means convincing other people they really can do things they didn't think they could do!) Marty enjoys, not only the delivering of the sermon, but the whole process of preparation, reading scriptures, research in what it meant to the original hearers, and discovering how it fits with our lives today.

Marty has two children, Brian, who is a prosthetic/orthotic technician in Reno, Nevada, and a daughter, Roselie, who lives in Albuquerque and is the Director ofOutreach at St. Stephen's UMC. Roselie's daughter, Leia and her husband, James, and their three children, Brian, Teddy and Abigail Rose, also live in Albuquerque.

Marty and her sister, Jane live together with their two dogs, Sunnee and Peanut, four cats, Duncan, Cassie, Freddy and Patrick, eight Ornate Desert Box Turtles and snake, Ranger. They both enjoy reading, photography and traveling the back roads with a friend who has a quad-cab, four-wheel frive pickup. Marty also enjoys working in the yard, playing around in her wood-working shop, and bird watching.

After flunking retirement twice, Marty considers herself truly blessed to be chosen as the Pastor of St. Peter ELCA.
