Rev. Stephanie Harmon

I look forward to leading worship with you, and beginning to build our relationship. So that I may be less of a stranger to you, I’d like to share briefly a bit of my background.

I grew up in the St. Louis area; my husband, Ken, and I are proud Boilermakers (graduated from Purdue); his career took us to Iowa, Connecticut, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. My call as pastor has given me the joy of serving in Santa Fe, Roswell, and Ruidoso as pastor, and here in Carlsbad as Chaplain to Landsun Homes for its last seven years. Ken works at W.I.P.P. as a procedure writer and trainer. We have two children: our son, Chris, lives in Kansas City, MO, and is an I.T. guy and database guru; our daughter, Emily, lives in Roswell with staff to help her enjoy her life, as she is “differently-abled” due to traumatic brain injury caused by a near-fatal illness as an infant. She is full of vim and vigor and lived with us until May of 2015. We are thankful she is close enough that we’ve been able to see her regularly (not counting this Year of Covid). Our home is complete with the three cats who graciously allow us to live with them (if you have cats, you understand)!

I look forward to getting to know each and all of you in the days and weeks to come. We will be offering opportunities for nurturing our faith, for learning and growing together as followers of Jesus. For how can we follow him if we do not know him? And what we know, we must implement in all that we think, in all that we say, and in all that we do. Otherwise we are merely “informed.” Let us daily strive in being Transformed by Jesus through God’s Word and the power and grace of the Holy Spirit, and partner with God as be God’s agents of love and restoration.
